Weird

Maybe you’ve noticed in the news, one side of the political spectrum, media and politicians, say their opposition is “weird.” It started occurring almost all at once, where you wouldn’t hear the word ever about anyone, and then you hear it every other sentence. Perhaps adults calling other adults weird comes across as childish, like something primaries might use to be mean on a school playground.

With some disagreement, I contend that things have been weird for awhile now and that it must be acknowledged. By definition, “weird” is “abnormal” or “off.” This concept is in the Bible. It corresponds to the design of God. God is a God of order, symmetry, and true beauty. Everything that relates to God is right. His is the straightest of the straight paths and makes complete sense. Sin enters the world, which corrupts God’s design. Men act like women. Women act like men. Men marry men. Women do so with women too. Cities and towns become devastated and ruined, trashed and ugly. I’m not even describing the weirdest of it, if it could get any weirder.

Society slipped into a state of allowing total weirdness without criticism, causing great confusion. If you ever said something was weird that was in fact weird, you received societal censure, chastisement, and castigation. In this new world, weirdness must continue unheeded and totally tolerated. And now the weirdest of the weird call “weird” what was historically normal. They think and maybe they do know that weird has become the new normal. Let’s not let this happen. Stand up for biblical rightness.
